Hey all, I would love to introduce you to my friend, fellow Arizonian and Diamondbacks enthusiast, Kathleen Grieve. We met on line and she is one of the rare friends I’ve made on Facebook that I have had the privilege of meeting in person. She is absolutely lovely! I am pleased to host her on my blog today to talk about her latest release, The Doctor’s Deception. Oh, and leave a one word comment for a chance to win a free copy of her book. I just love free, don’t you?
Obsession…
Dictionary.com defines ob·ses·sion as:
1. the domination of one’s thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc.
Have you ever in your life been so obsessed with something that the focus of what you’re trying to achieve rules your life? You eat, breathe, and sleep your obsession… Albert Einstein was this way with his Theory of Relativity. Abraham Lincoln and his quest for equality for all men regardless of skin color. Those are two great examples. When I wrote my book, The Doctor’s Deception, I had no idea that my hero and heroine were so obsessive! Not on the level as Albert and Abe, mind you, but Dr. Lassiter and nurse Faith Daniels have let their obsessions take over their lives. And I must admit, I have been guilty of this myself and have found that went obsession takes over, there are things in my life that have suffered because of my single-minded focus on reaching a goal. While writing this post, I wondered why nature wired our brains to obsess. I mean, really. There can be some really unhealthy obsessions out there.
But obsession can lead to so many wonderful unexplored opportunities out there as well. And because I’m an eternal optimist, I believe that obsession can lead to love and finding that happily ever after.
What do you obsess about? Leave a comment and valid email address below for your chance to win a free e-book copy of The Doctor’s Deception available now from Evernight Publishing at www.evernightpublishing.com . One random winner will be drawn from a hat.
The Doctor’s Deception
Blurb:
Hard-headed, straight-laced Dr Stone Lassiter is one heart surgeon about to lose everything he’s worked his entire career for. He is locked in a battle of wills against the nurses of the surgical intensive care unit of Deerborne County General. At first, the new doctor was definitely drool-worthy. Sexy or not, the nurses have had enough! Their secret weapon? Unsuspecting SICU nurse, Faith Daniels, a cool green-eye blonde that turns Dr. Lassiter’s head every time she’s near. Poor Faith has the “worst luck” in drawing the short straw and is forced to work with Dr. Lassiter repeatedly. Will the nurses’ plan to have Dr. Lassiter fall in love with one of their own work in softening him toward the nursing staff? Or will the little white lie Stone tells Faith to enlist her aid to obtain his goal destroy the fragile bond of love that has developed between them?
Excerpt:
Faith moaned and woke to the constant chiming of her doorbell and pounding on the front door. The wonderful, erotic dream of Stone painting her with melted chocolate burst.
She lifted her head and glanced at her clock. 7:00a.m. Groaning, she pulled the covers over her head and rolled onto her stomach, trying to recapture her fantasy. Maybe whoever it was would go away if she ignored them.
Ding-dong… Ding-dong… Ding-dong…
“Oh, give it a rest already!” she yelled, climbing out of bed. The cool morning air hit her bare legs and arms, and she shivered.
She reached the front door and yanked it open.
Stone Lassiter stood on her step, hand in air, ready to pound the unrelenting wood again.
Staring, her fogged brain tried to wake up. Hadn’t he just been in her room?
No, that wasn’t real you nit-wit!
“You! What’s the big idea? Do you realize how early it is? It’s my day off!”
Not to mention, I was in the middle of the best dream of my life.
